I am a huge fan of the X-Files from back when it first aired in the UK, and now the second movie is out, I have something to ask of my internet flisters.

Should I pay £10 and see this in the cinema, and if not, is it worth having on DVD?

I looked at my post from last night and realised that I didn't actually say anything about the movie. So here we go.

Very cool. Ledger's Joker was a masterpiece of chaotic madness, Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent pre and post accident were brilliant and apart from his 'batman voice', Christian Bale did a smashing job. Overall, a highly recommended movie, even for non comic fans.

Now, off to lunch.

Happy Birthday to my sister, the Brat, otherwise known as abitunhelpful and that wonderful writer of words, yahtzee. Many happy wishes of the day to both of you.

I had a relatively quiet birthday last night, got some jeans from my stepmum and a carpet, CD rack and leather desk chair from my Dad. Had a large tray of roast chicken, potatoes and vegetables for dinner and a nice Marks & Spencers cake for afters. Very tasty.

I'm not sure if this is strange or obscure, but I've noticed I'm often able to decipher specialised versions of english such as managerese, lawyerish and, my favourite, pretentious waffling. I sometimes partake in the latter myself.

So, tomorrow, the 11th will be my birthday and I will have extra cash on hand. My current ipod mini has only 4G and is audio only so I've come to you, my faithful flist to help me out in my hour of need.

I looking for a video mp3 player that can hold up to at least 10-15 gigs and not be prohibitively expensive, can anybody recommend anything for me?

I've spent the weekend reading the thousand page epic Cryptonomicon and it was well worth the effort. Gripping, fascinating, and highly enjoyable was the cross generational story showing the effect cryptography has had on the world for the past century.

Great stuff, highly recommended.
